Zach Galifianakis to Voice the Joker in Lego Batman Movie

Zach Galifianakis is in talks to voice the Joker in “The Lego Batman Movie.”

With Will Arnett is set to reprise his role as Batman from “The Lego Movie,” many have wondered who will voice his villainous counterpart. The answer to that may be none other than “The Hangover” star Zach Galifianakis. According to Variety, Galifianakis is currently in discussion with Warner Bros. to voice the Joker.

Galifianakis joins Will Arnett, who’s returning as the gruff voice of Batman from “The Lego Movie” and Michael Cera, who was recently cast as Robin.

While Zach Galifianakis may not be “formally” finalized for the part, “Superbad” actor Michael Cera has been cast as the voice of Robin. The common trait between all of these leading stars is their association with comedic roles. Obviously the film will follow a more humorous tone if it’s anything like “The Lego Movie” and with Will Arnett, Michael Cera, and Zach Galifianakis (supposedly) on board I’m guessing that is the case.

I have to say that Zach Galifianakis may surprise fans as the voice of the Joker but there are a lot of loyal voice fans out there. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill (“Batman: The Animated Series”) have built a solid fan base when it comes to vocal actors for Batman and the Joker. But maybe since no one seemed to cause a fuss over Will Arnett as Batman in “The Lego Movie,” fans will be a bit more lenient when it comes to Zach Galifianakis as the Joker. I personally think that he will fit well with the tone of the film and will have both kids and adults laughing if he finalizes the deal.

“The Lego Batman Movie” is slated for a February 2017 release date.
