Revenant: a person who has returned, especially supposedly from the dead. This is exactly the opposite definition of Director Alejandro González Iñárritu, who is returning from an Oscar hat trick from last year’s Birdman with wins for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Picture.
This time he is teaming up with one of the best actors in Hollywood, Leonardo DiCaprio. Leo has been snubbed by the Oscars with an 0 for 5 record over the years so it will be intriguing to see how the Academy will come to handle this love-hate relationship. This is assuming that “The Revenant” is an award caliber film in the first place. Take a look below.
It is refreshing to watch a trailer and not know exactly what is going on. All we do know is that the film, inspired by true events, focuses on an 1820s frontiersman who sets out on a path to seek vengeance on those who left him for dead after a bear mauling. I am confident from the trailer that combining Iñárritu and DiCaprio with the incredibly hot star power of Tom Hardy to create a revenge thriller filled with action as well as an artistic touch has the potential to craft one of the best films in years.
