WCW – Woman Crush Wednesday Alicia Vikander
Ryan’s Woman Crush Wednesday recipient is rising actress Alicia Vikander!
Alicia Vikander isn’t a household name (yet), but I doubt it will be long before she becomes one. Whether she’s seducing men as a robot in the critically acclaimed sleeper hit Ex-Machina or holding her own with super spies (Man from U.N.C.L.E.), she’s proven she’s ready for the spotlight.
Alicia was born on October 3, 1988 in Gothenburg, Västra Götalands län, Sweden. She started out as a Swedish TV actress then moved on to film catching acclaim for her role in the 2012 film “A Royal Affair.” Since then she had a variety of roles in higher profile films such as “Anna Karenina” and “The Fifth Estate” (Benedict Cumberbatch), but it wasn’t until 2015 when she was truly noticed for her role in “Ex-Machina.”
Although the film received notable praise from critics, it was overshadowed by the Marvel film Avengers: Age of Ultron which released just one month later. For those who did see the film, they were captivated by both Vikander’s performance and beauty as she starred alongside Domhnall Gleeson and Oscar Isaac. As she seduced Gleeson into falling in love with her, critics and audiences fell in love with her character as well. It was no surprise that we would be seeing her again in the near future.
And when I say near future, I wasn’t joking. Just a few months later, Alicia Vikander served as a part of the trio in the Henry Cavill film “Man from U.N.C.L.E.” While she did somewhat play a “damsel in distress,” she also had a certain strength to her character which allowed her to peel back Armie Hammer’s character’s tough exterior. With Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill showcasing a suave and masculine sense of sex appeal, she catered to male audiences with her strong-willed personality and classic Audrey Hepburn type beauty.
As far as the future goes, she is set to star in the next “Bourne” film where Matt Damon will make his return. This is expected to be a successful film given the announcement that both Damon and Paul Greengrass are attached to the film. If this film proves to be successful then I’m sure that Alicia Vikander’s career will be solidified to the point of becoming an A-List actress.
