Vince Vaughn confirmed for True Detective season 2
Vince Vaughn is now confirmed as the second lead in “True Detective Season 2.”
It was recently confirmed that Colin Farrell would be one of the leads in “True Detective Season 2” and now the other rumor of Vince Vaughn has been confirmed. Vince Vaughn will be playing one of the three roles for male leads and there is still speculation as to who will play the third part.
Farrell will play one of the three cops, Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him. Vaughn is the career criminal, Frank Semyon, who in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner. One of the other two police officers, Paul Woodrugh, is expected to be played by Taylor Kitsch, while the third is the female lead, Ani Bezzerides.
There has been a third rumor of regarding casting for “True Detective Season 2.” Since the rumor of Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn was announced, there was another rumor circulating about Taylor Kitsch. With both Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell now confirmed, I’d say the rumor of Taylor Kitsch is very probable.
All three of these actors have had their own struggles in Hollywood. Colin Farrell has spent the past few years earning his respect once again after some poor film choices and seems to be the most reputable of the three actors. Vince Vaughn has been doing comedies for so long that he is considered to be a typecast actor and has a signature persona which we see in almost every one of his films. Taylor Kitsch’s problem has been with his box office numbers. Even though some of his films may have gained critical acclaim and he isn’t considered a terrible actor, he just hasn’t been considered profitable.
The great thing about the “True Detective” series is the potential it carries for the actors involved. Matthew McConaughey was known as one of the biggest typecast actors in Hollywood, some even considered him a joke. Following the film “Mud” and “Dallas Buyer’s Club” came “True Detective.” While the overall path was what landed him an Oscar for “Dallas Buyer’s Club,” many would consider his true triumph to be “True Detective” which also scored him an Emmy nomination.
Out of the actors involved in “True Detective Season 2,” we may see some careers pushed back in the right direction or finally get started. Hopefully this season will be as captivating and as intense as this past season.
Who do you think will get a career boost from this upcoming season of “True Detective?”
