Trailer For ‘Tour de Pharmacy’ Shows Andy Samberg’s Next HBO Mockumentary
“Tour de Pharmacy” mocks the Tour de France in star-studded fashion.
As the second sports mockumentary since “7 Days in Hell,” HBO presents Andy Samberg’s next creation “Tour de Pharmacy.” Centered around cycling and the infamous blood doping scandal, this mockumentary takes these elements to an exaggerated level. In addition to an appearance from Lance Armstrong himself, “Tour de Pharmacy” also brings big names like John Cena, Jeff Goldblum, Dolph Lundgren, and Danny Glover to name a few.
The style of comedy is fitting for Andy Samberg’s brand of humor. “7 Days in Hell” mocked the world of tennis using one of the sports most notorious names, John Mcenroe, as the dose of reality. “Tour de Pharmacy” seems to be using similar mechanics by including Lance Armstrong in the cast list who was stripped of his medals after admitting to blood doping.
John Cena seems to be playing the most exaggerated character of the film given his size that is ridiculously uncommon for a cyclist. Other actors like Dolph Lundgren and Jeff Goldblum seem to be playing comedic characters as well lending their talents to more isolated, sports commentary roles rather than being participants.
“Tour de Pharmacy” premieres on HBO on July 8, 2017.
