Trailer: Aronofsky’s ‘mother!’ Promises Domestic Thrills

The long awaited trailer to Darren Aronofsky’s latest was worth the wait!

Darren Aronofsky’s (“Black Swan,” “Requiem for a Dream”) new horror-drama “mother!” (no caps and an exclamation point) released a devilish looking trailer with a lot of potential. This should provide cat nip for fans of the auteur director and talented actors.  The autumn season tend to bring audiences both award contenders and horror movies so why not have both in one movie? It makes sense! Starring a cast of accomplished actors including Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer and Ed Harris, “mother!” opens wide September 15th.

Whoa. Seeing is believing, indeed. There’s a lot of unpack with this trailer. The first half sets up a story with the relationship between Lawrence and Bardem. Trouble shows up at their front door with Pfeiffer and Harris. Cultist chaos ensues. I am glad the second half of the trailer is more vague because I don’t like things spelled out. Those type of trailers ruin surprises. This is not what we have here. Lawrence and Pfeiffer look like they give strong performances. We don’t know what’s going on with initial viewings but we can expect a lot of thrills and bonkers moments when “mother!” opens in five weeks!

What did you think of the “mother!” trailer?
