Nicolas Cage had a lot of opportunities for great roles!
Looking up trivia in movies or Nicolas Cage himself shows many extremely popular films that he could have been part of but for whatever reason didn’t happen with him. Some of these projects are so major that a lot of actors would be focused on all that they missed out on. However the actor himself does not seem to regret them as stated in a recent interview.
“I don’t really have any regrets. I think regret is a waste of time. I try to always move forward as opposed to dwelling on the past or the movies that might have happened. There certainly were movies that I probably would have benefited from if circumstances in my life allowed me to make them.”
Good on him. It’s a point of view I personally agree with. Later in the article he brought up that he would like to work with directors Quentin Tarantino and Paul Thomas Anderson.
“I would love to work with Paul Thomas Anderson. I think that he’s one of the greats. And he’s certainly a true artist. Quentin Tarantino and I, the two of us could really do something quite special. But I remain positive and hopeful that it will eventually happen.”
Nicolas Cage is an interesting fellow isn’t he? Once one of the most respected actors of our time and now the subject of jokes, memes, and sketches mostly centering around the lack of quality of his more recent films which are partly due to his poor financial decisions. Some of the movies that he reportedly missed out on include “Lord of the Rings,” “The Matrix,” “Crank,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “The Wrestler,” and “Red Dragon.” It may be hard for some younger readers to remember but Nicolas Cage is not only an Oscar winning actor but for many years was known as an incredibly gifted and intense actor. One of the things about Cage that is similar to other actors like Daniel Day-Lewis or Jeff Bridges is that he not only takes chances in his roles but he commits to them. Honestly it doesn’t even seem that unlikely that he may still get to work with these directors and presumably now they can be aware of it. It also probably doesn’t hurt that Tarantino is known for not being put off by actor’s previous works. So in a couple of years, who knows.
What do you think? Could we see a revival of Nicolas Cage? Could he have pulled off these roles?
