Super Bowl XLIX TV & Film Spot Compilation
Pitch Perfect 2
The Super Bowl clip for Pitch Perfect 2 gives us just what we want…a new song. This time we hear Anna Kendrick going a bit country with her own version of a Carrie Underwood song. And of course for all of the football fans out there, the acapella group featuring Clay Matthews is finally introduced as the Green Bay Packers. I think audiences are ready to get “pitch slapped!”
Terminator: Genisys
This clip for “Terminator: Genisys” focuses on the man that is the Terminator, Arnold Schwarzenegger. We get to see a bit more of the aged Terminator and Arnold with gray hair still kicking butt. Many have their theories behind the aged Terminator but I think it’s rather obvious. The living tissue on the exterior of the Terminators still ages if it is indeed living. This is probably the best explanation as to why an “old man” can still go toe to toe with younger machines.
Spongebob Squarepants
“Spongebob Squarepants” is an iconic children’s favorite when it comes to cartoon characters but might not be a favorite at the box office. The film is advertising a February 6 release date but the media coverage has been extremely limited for this film. Fortunately for children’s films, the box office can be rather unpredictable so despite the lack of coverage, kids may already know about it and be begging their parents to go. The TV show has always had some subtle adult humor mixed in, so it could be an enjoyable film for the entire family.
Heroes Reborn
“Heroes Reborn” is the only spot on this list that isn’t a film, but rather a highly anticipated TV show. The show “Heroes” was a superhero phenomenon that arguably surpassed any other superhero TV show in quality in its early stages. With amazing plot twists and unpredictable powers, “Heroes” rose to the top as one of NBC’s most talked about shows but unfortunately fell victim to a writer’s strike that hurt the show’s quality. The last season left many hanging and now the show is getting a revival of sorts. With the emergence of the superhero movement in both TV and film, “Heroes Reborn” couldn’t have come at a better time.
