A “Star Wars” Han Solo spinoff film is happening and the directors are signed!
We’ve still got months to go before Star Wars: The Force Awakens is even released yet we keep hearing news of new “Star Wars” spinoffs. We’ve seen rumors of an Obi-Wan spinoff come to light, Star Wars: Rogue One will be about the infamous “Death Star” mission, and now we’ve got Han Solo film happening.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Han Solo spinoff is happening and it’s already got its directors. The same directorial duo responsible for “The Lego Movie” will now be responsible for giving our favorite “Star Wars” smuggler center stage in his very own film. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be sharing director duties as they take on a film focusing on the younger days of Han Solo.
Miller and his partner Phil Lord, the duo behind The Lego Movie and the hit 21 Jump Street movies, are tackling one of Star Wars anthology movies as their next directing project, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
The filmmaker team, who write, direct and produce, are stepping up to helm a movie that will focus on a young Han Solo, according to sources.
The Han Solo film not only has the directors set, but also has Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan writing the script. They’ve even announced a release date for May 25, 2018!
Everyone is talking about the news that’s announced with this film but what about the unannounced? Who will play the younger version of Han Solo? Well I’ve got an idea who would make a great choice. Everyone is already talking about Chris Pratt for the role of Indiana Jones, why not Han Solo? Why not make him the new Harrison Ford and have him take over the role in both franchises? That would be quite awesome to see!
Well as awesome as that may sound, I wouldn’t expect it to happen. With Pratt playing a similar Han Solo type role in Guardians of the Galaxy, I doubt he would land the role due to public confusion. But even if Pratt doesn’t get the role, I’m sure there are number of other actors to play the part. Overall, I’m just excited to see Disney expanding the universe as they have. I never thought we’d see the day where we’d get a 7th “Star Wars” film, let alone a Han Solo spinoff!
