Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg in Talks for ‘Where’s Waldo’ Movie
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg may be teaming up for a “Where’s Waldo” film.
“Where’s Waldo” has been a timeless series that’s still popular today. But the question of whether it’s worthy of a live-action film adaptation may soon be answered by the people over at MGM. They acquired the rights to make the film back in 2011 but now it seems like they’re finally moving forward seeking the help of Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen.
While no deals are in place yet, there is a script by Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir. MGM acquired the screen rights for the film in 2011.
Everyone knows who Seth Rogen is and if you know him then chances are you probably indirectly know who Evan Goldberg is as well. In addition to being friends, the two have collaborated on more recent projects including the comedies “This Is The End” and “The Interview.” They will also be working on an upcoming animated feature titled “Sausage Party.”
For those unfamiliar with “Where’s Waldo” (I’d be surprised), he’s a fictional character that’s been ingrained in our pop culture. He comes from a book comprised of illustrations where the reader must find him among a large crowd of others. There have been over 55 million books sold worldwide.
MGM seems to be banking on the popularity of this book to sell a film but that may not work in this case. The “Where’s Waldo” books are all based upon visuals with no story. If Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg become part of the project, we may get a humorous story but without a good script, I doubt this film will be anything to truly discuss.
What are your thoughts on this project and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg possibly being attached?
