Tom Hardy drops out of “Suicide Squad!”
News circulated today that Tom Hardy has dropped out as the role of Rick Flagg in DC Comics’ highly anticipated 2016 Suicide Squad. Chris Evans did well when he crossed-over with Marvel from Johnny Storm to Steve Rogers, but it looks like Hardy will try to end his DC comic book stint on a high note as Bane.
Director David Ayer has mentioned Jake Gyllenhaal as a possible front runner. He is a hit and miss actor and this would be a new type of role for him so if chosen I hope he brings to DC what his “Brokeback Mountain” co-star brought to the DC Universe.
The film already touts other big star power with Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jared Leto as The Joker, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. There is much time for things to change in terms of cast, but I hope the other stars do not follow Hardy’s suit and cause a delay in the release.
What do you think of Tom Hardy’s departure?
