Robbie Amell & Lauren Ambrose join X-Files Cast

Fox’s “The X-Files” brings Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose onboard!

It was recently announced that X-Files will be returning to Fox this coming January. Actors David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will be reprising their roles as Mulder and Scully but now we may have some youth added to the show.

According to Entertainment Weekly rising star Robbie Amell (“The Flash”) and “Six Feet Under” star Lauren Ambrose will be appearing on the show as well. They will be playing FBI agents but it is uncertain where their allegiances will lie.

Actors Robbie Amell (The Flash) and Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under) will appear in the new incarnation of the sci-fi hit as agents Miller and Einstein, respectively.

While many may be excited to see these two on the cast list, it seems that Mulder and Scully will still be “The X-Files'” shining stars. Amell and Ambrose are said to appear in only one episode but when there are only six episodes set for release, I wouldn’t count their appearance as insignificant.

But before you think Fox is pulling a Doggett and Reyes all over again, there’s also this: They’re only signed to appear in one episode as guest stars.

The series has been given multiple attempts to reach success once again. With two film flops released years apart, it seems as though Fox would give up on keeping “The X-Files” alive. By going back to television Fox may be able to gain the momentum needed with little risk given the small six episode run. Adding new and prominent cast members to this short-lived series may be a formula for “testing the waters” with audiences. If the series proves to be a success after six episodes, it’s likely that we will see the show blossom into a full fledged television show.

What do you think? Will Robbie Amell and Lauren Ambrose help boost “X-Files” ratings?
