“Star Wars” icon Carrie Fisher passes at age 60.
Carrie Fisher had been in intensive care since suffering a massive heart attack on December 23rd. She was aboard an 11-hour flight from London to Los Angeles when she went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital shortly after landing. While her brother Todd Fisher left us optimistic stating that she was “out of emergency” and stabilized, she unfortunately passed at 8:55 PST this morning. Spokesman for the family, Billie Lourd, Carrie Fisher’s daughter, read a statement shortly after.
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning…”
“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly,” says Lourd. “Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
While iconically known for her role as Princess Leia in the “Star Wars” franchise, Carrie Fisher was much more. Recently we highlighted some accomplishments outside of “Star Wars” to show what a well-rounded star she truly was. As an author, actress, mother, and more, she will be heavily missed.
Carrie Fisher is survived by her mother Debbie Reynolds, daughter Lourd, and her beloved French bulldog Gary. 2016 has been a Hell of a year for loss and it’s beyond devastating to hear that we lost another Hollywood icon.
