The “Oceans 8” synopsis has been revealed along with a cast picture.
Gearing up for the June 18, 2018 release date, Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures released the first image for “Oceans 8.” Along with the image comes a more detailed synopsis revealing the heist and setting, but unfortunately still a bit vague in the realm of context.
“In summer 2018, the tide will turn as (left to right) Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) attempts to pull off the heist of the century at New York City’s star-studded annual Met Gala,” a statement explains. “Her first stop is to assemble the perfect crew: Lou (Cate Blanchett); Nine Ball (Rihanna); Amita (Mindy Kaling); Constance (Awkwafina); Rose (Helena Bonham Carter); Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway); and Tammy (Sarah Paulson).”
It was recently announced that James Corden had joined the cast. In addition the details tying this film to the previous George Clooney led films were also somewhat revealed. The bridge between the films lies with Matt Damon’s character Linus as he will have some sort of presence in the new “Oceans 8.”
Out of the three films we’ve seen thus far, the setting has brought the cast to Las Vegas, Nevada twice and Europe for “Oceans 12.” “Oceans 8” will be the first film taking place in New York City centering around the city’s annual Met Gala.
Gary Ross (“The Hunger Games”) is directing the film and shares screenwriting credits with Olivia Milch. Steven Soderbergh and Jon Kilik will serve as producers on the film while executive producer credits are shared among Michael Tadross, Susan Ekins, Sandra Bullock, Diana Alvarez, and Bruce Berman.
