National Lampoon’s Vacation Red Band Trailer is here!
National Lampoon’s Vacation trailer is here and looks hilarious!
Paying homage to the original film, this trailer unites the old with the new by showing clips from the original Vacation and comparing to the new reboot. Take a look at the trailer below and tell us what you think. Be warned, this trailer is not rated, meaning it could be not safe for work.
This reboot of “Vacation” is obviously about Rusty’s (Ed Helms) new family adventure without the inclusion of Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) and Ellen Griswold (Beverly D’Angelo). Clark and Ellen are briefly shown in the trailer but their short-lived time also insinuates that they will be acting as cast members “passing the torch” to the the new cast.
From what I saw in the trailer, Ed Helms and Christina Applegate seem to emulate the chemistry between Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo. Rusty is a bit awkward and “dad-like” while his wife Debbie is logical and a bit “out of his league.” Throughout the trailer we see them caught up in many similar situations that Rusty’s parents were in, while also creating a few new and more vulgar situations of their own. The part where “Holiday Road” began to play and the attractive woman in the Ferrari drove by had me caught off guard and laughing out loud.
The other brief but hilarious inclusion in the trailer was Leslie Mann as Audrey and her boyfriend Stone Crandall played by Chris Hemsworth. I’m sure that Audrey will have a more pivotal role than seen in the trailers but Chris Hemsworth’s final scene in the trailer was absolutely hilarious! Consistently playing to his sex appeal, the final scene gives a good idea of what to expect from the character Stone Crandall.
While I’m not a fan of constantly rebooting films, I do think that “Vacation” will be a comedy on my radar. The film includes an A-List comedic cast and adds the iconic National Lampoon name to its value.
