Michael Fassbender is in talks to play a serial killer in a true crime story film.
After receiving critical acclaim for his role in Steve Jobs, Michael Fassbender may be taking another complex yet darker role. For the upcoming film “Entering Hades,” Michael Fassbender is currently in talks to play a serial killer based on real life accounts from Australian journalist Jack Unterweger. Unterweger served as a journalist by day and a serial killer by night responsible for over 11 reported murders. “Entering Hades” will be based on this character as adapted from the John Leake true crime novel about the Australian journalist.
With Bob and Richard’s vision and Michael’s keen ability to bring captivating characters to the big screen, we are confident that ‘Entering Hades’ will be an entertaining thriller that draws a big audience,” said Gabriel and Daniel Hammond, CEO and Chief Creative Officer of Broad Green Pictures.
The script for “Entering Hades” will be penned by Alexander Dinelaris who is rewriting the original script written by Bill Wheeler. Dinelaris more recently won an Oscar for serving as one of the writers for the Alejandro G. Iñárritu film “Birdman.” With this film being introduced by the relatively fresh Broad Green Pictures, I’m sure they’re hoping to gain some notoriety through acquiring big names like Dinelaris and Fassbender.
While just being introduced in 2014, Broad Green Pictures is also responsible for the upcoming film The Infiltrator starring Bryan Cranston. Their past films also include “A Walk in the Woods,” “99 Homes,” “I Smile Back,” and “Knight of Cups.”
Concrete dates for “Entering Hades” and other production and cast members have yet to be determined.
What are your thoughts on this new role for Michael Fassbender? How do you feel about him playing such a dark character?
