A Lucille Ball biopic film written by Aaron Sorkin is on its way!
The latest biographical film coming to Hollywood is based on one of the greatest female comedians of all time. That’s right, Lucille Ball will be the subject of a new film set to star Cate Blanchett with a screenplay written by “The Social Network” writer Aaron Sorkin.
The film is reported to be more than just the highlights of Lucille Ball’s career. This untitled project will chronicle Ball’s 20-year marriage to Desi Arnaz who happened to also be her co-star on “I Love Lucy.” It may also cover Lucille Ball’s marriage to Gary Morton only a year after Ball and Arnaz’s divorce in 1960.
Both Aaron Sorkin and Cate Blanchett have many credits to their name. As previously mentioned, Sorkin is responsible for the Mark Zuckerberg biopic “The Social Network,” but he’s also responsible for many other biopic films. “Moneyball” based on Oakland A’s GM Billy Beane and the upcoming Steve Jobs film are both written by Aaron Sorkin. Cate Blanchett also should flourish in film as Lucille Ball. With so many iconic acting roles attached to her name, I can’t think of anyone better to portray the iconic “I Love Lucy” star.
In addition to the accredited, high-profile names on the film, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz’s own children Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. will act as producers on the untitled project. Escape Artists, a Sony-based company, will be the production company behind the film. They have been responsible for films such as “Southpaw” and “The Equalizer” and will be behind the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” movie.
The project is currently untitled and has no expected release date as of yet.
