Kindergarten Cop Sequel will Star Dolph Lundgren?
It looks like Dolph Lundgren will star in the “Kindergarten Cop” sequel.
There was talk of a new “Kindergarten Cop” in the works but now it looks like it’s actually happening. In some photos released from ManlyMovie.net, it appears that Dolph Lundgren is set to star in the film. Take a look at a few of the photos they released below.
For those not familiar with “Kindergarten Cop,” it was an Arnold Schwarzenegger comedy where he played a detective named John Kimble. In an attempt to flush out a criminal on the run, John Kimble reluctantly poses as a Kindergarten teacher to protect the criminal’s family. From what we can dig up on the film (which is not much), it does not look like Arnold Schwarzenegger will be making an appearance alongside Dolph Lundgren for this sequel.
While little is known about Dolph Lundgren’s character in the film, we can assume that he will fall into a similar situation. Currently he is said to be filming in Vancouver, Canada and the film is expected to be a digital television release, not a theatrical release.
It’s interesting to see how many of these 80s and 90s films are being resurrected. “Kindergarten Cop” is a film that I never expected to be given a sequel and I’m even more surprised that they would move forward with someone other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. If they were to reboot the film, I would expect they would use a more modern action star like Dwayne Johnson rather than a star that was prevalent in the same decade as Schwarzenegger. There’s nothing particularly wrong with Dolph Lundgren taking on the role, it’s just a surprise that Hollywood isn’t following the normal “reboot formula” by casting a more youthful actor.
