Kevin Smith’s Clerks III is coming thanks to Tusk success
Despite mixed reviews, “Tusk” has now become the main funding source for Kevin Smith’s next film “Clerks 3.”
Pooya recently reviewed “Tusk” noting its potential but nonetheless still citing its mediocrity. I think he and I both agree that we enjoy Kevin Smith and hope for success when seeing his films, so despite a less than stellar review we can probably both agree that we’re happy for “Tusk” being a financial success for Kevin Smith.
TUSK was the absolute bridge to CLERKS III. Because of TUSK I got my financing for CLERKS III. And honestly, that wouldn’t have happened without Tusk. A year and change ago I was desperately trying to get CLERKS III made for the 20th anniversary and that desperation, I must have reeked of it because I couldn’t f*cking find money and shit. But it was Tusk, people going ‘Holy f*ck, what else do you have?’ and I was like ‘Clerks III‘ and they’re like ‘done’. So, everybody that’s like, ‘he failed, he failed’, I’m like ‘thank you, I failed into CLERKS III.”

“Clerks” is the film that launched Kevin Smith’s career and he achieved incredible acclaim with its sequel. “Tusk” may have not been for everyone but most can agree that “Clerks III” is his most highly anticipated film at the moment. Despite some other unsuccessful ventures, Kevin Smith has always done well by sticking to his roots. I expect that “Clerks III” will be a box office success and can’t wait for its release. Way to stick it to the critics of “Tusk” Mr. Smith!
