‘Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle’ First Trailer Gives The Game A Digital Makeover
“Jumanji” is back and revamped for modern day.
“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” reunites Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart along with Karen Gillian and Jack Black. Transforming the original board game into a more digital format as a video game, this sequel attempts to reignite the enjoyment of the first film with a blend of action and comedy and the cast to fit the bill.
While this very much seems like a reboot, the official synopsis makes reference to the original film and Alan Parrish (Robin Williams). But despite the mention, there seems to be little to no references to the first film in the trailer. As far as what has happened to the characters from “Jumanji” and how this board game has transformed into a video game, that still remains a mystery that may or may not be resolved in this film.
This does look like a fun popcorn flick for general audiences but continuing the “Jumanji” story 20 years later may not resonate with the nostalgic demographic the studios hope to capture.
Both Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart are names that draw in crowds so the film may succeed at the box office based on star power. But from a contextual point of view, the trailer fails to highlight the uniqueness of the original film which I hope is not the case when the film finally debuts.
“Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” hits theaters on December 20, 2017.
I have NO clue what to make of this trailer…
