Disney announces a fifth “Indiana Jones” film with Harrison Ford!
While many were speculating that there would be new Indiana Jones actor, it turns out that Harrison For still has enough steam to keep the franchise going. With an official release date of July 19, 2019, we will get to see Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford reunited once again as they move forward on the fifth installment of the franchise.
“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios in a press release. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”
Harrison Ford has aged well and proved that he can still take on rather daunting acting jobs that require some hustle. But while he’s in great shape, “Indiana Jones” is a lot more heavy in the stunt-driven area so I would expect that the actual stunts Ford performs will be at a minimum.
Another factor they have working against them is the poorly received fourth installment in the franchise, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” Some may attribute that the attachment of George Lucas to the film could have been the trouble but regardless of that opinion, the film was plagued with a far-fetched plot and poor supporting characters (Mutt aka Shia Labeouf).
I expect this next film to fall right in line with the cause and effect of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Once the Star Wars franchise was purchased from George Lucas, we saw an instantaneous recovery after the highly critiqued prequels. Since “Indiana Jones” falls into this same category of ownership, I’m expecting the same thing to happen with “Indiana Jones 5.”
What are your thoughts on “Indiana Jones 5” with Harrison Ford attached?
