Independence Day 2′ Synopsis Revealed
The plot synopsis for “Independence Day 2” has finally been revealed!
Back in the Summer of 1996 “Independence Day” was the epitome of blockbusters. Summer movies like this weren’t as plentiful as they are now and the CGI effects were outstanding for the time. With the highly anticipated sequel on its way, many have been anticipating how the story will play out after so much time has passed. Fortunately, today was a day of revealing news. According to Collider, the full details of the “Independence Day 2” plot reveal the retaliation of the aliens and what Earth has done to prepare.
After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global catastrophe on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
A few years ago Roland Emmerich went into a bit more detail about the sequel. His words supplement the official synopsis that was released today.
”The humans knew that one day the aliens would come back, and they know that the only way you can really travel in space is through wormholes. So for the aliens, it could take two or three weeks, but for us that’s 20 or 25 years.”
“It’s a changed world. It’s like parallel history. [Humans] have harnessed all this alien technology. We don’t know how to duplicate it because it’s organically-grown technology, but we know how to take an antigravity device and put it in a human airplane.”
I have to say that I feel that “Independence Day 2” is actually a valid sequel. The premise of Earth preparing itself by utilizing alien technology is an extremely interesting element and has me intrigued as to how the story will play out. The only detail that has me questioning the story is the absence of one of the previous film’s main characters. While most cast members will be returning, the absence of Will Smith has me wondering how they will explain his absence. I’m guessing that he will probably be dead and his death will be presented as a mechanism to push his son to step into his father’s shoes.
No matter what the story may be, I think that the synopsis has the making for a very interesting sequel. I can’t wait to see what comes next!
