Quentin Tarantino’s new film “Hateful Eight” is one of the most anticipated films of the year both for critics and audiences.
It’s not hard to see why when he is one of our best living filmmakers and his films have continually won us over. Tarantino is one of the most famous movie lovers out there who not only loves the past but also loves to share that interest. Want proof, then look no further than the roadshow that he wants to present “Hateful Eight” in. You will of course still be able to see the film in theaters like normal. However for the film fans out there who wanted to know where we could see this roadshow, we now have a list of the cities from Variety.
“New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, Washington DC, Houston, Detroit, Phoenix, Seattle, Tampa, Minneapolis, Denver, Miami, Cleveland, Orlando, Sacramento, St. Louis, Portland, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, Baltimore, San Diego, Nashville, Kansas City, San Antonio, West Palm Beach, Birmingham, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, Oklahoma City, Austin, New Orleans, Providence, Knoxville, Santa Barbara, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver.”
For those wondering what a roadshow is, in the old days certain movies had a limited run full of extras. These could include extra scenes in the film itself, an overture, an intermission, printed programs, etc. all appearing for a few days in each scheduled city. They were meant to be events and sometimes the directors and/or actors would show up. This video explains it better.
The original trailers made a big to do about the film being shot on 70mm. Once an extremely popular format that the director is now using. Tarantino has been a very outspoken proponent of shooting on film. The only catch is that all of these cities require theaters that are still able to project 70mm films. If you want to purchase your tickets you can go to http://tickets.thehatefuleight.com. The film itself will be released on December 31st of this year.
