‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Animated Short Reveals Drax Origin Story

Marvel has released two animated shorts on YouTube revealing the origins of “Guardians of the Galaxy” hero Drax.

In order to appease curious minds without doing a spinoff film, Marvel has released two animated shorts about the Guardians of the Galaxy member Drax. While we were introduced to Drax midway through “Guardians of the Galaxy,” his origin was not revealed creating a curiosity around how he was placed in prison. The brief animated shorts below show how Dave Bautista’s character got there.

In addition to the most recent short about Drax, there were a few other shorts that were released about other “Guardians of the Galaxy” characters. Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Gamora, and even Star-Lord himself get the animated treatment. We get to see how Rocket Raccoon was genetically enhanced as well as the origin of Groot and how he and Rocket formed their alliance. We also get to see what happened to Star-Lord aka Peter Quill as a child as he was abducted by Yondu’s ship. The Gamora origin story can be found uploaded by other YouTube members in 30 second intervals but Marvel has not officially uploaded that short as of yet. But from what we’ve seen thus far, these animated shorts are a welcomed, supplemental addition to the “Guardians of the Galaxy” film. They should satiate our appetites as we anxiously await the release of “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” to see where these characters end up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
