Fox may have their Cable for “X-Men” spinoff, “X-Force.”
UPDATE: IMDB has officially changed their status dismissing the initial rumors.
It’s been continually talked about Stephen Lang portraying Cable in the X-Men and spinoff films. Since 2011 this discussion has gone on and now we may have some progress on the discussion.
According to IMDB, Stephen Lang’s status has officially been updated. We recently heard Fox’s news on their spinoffs and outside of Gambit, X-Force was a fan favorite. Given that news, there have been two rumors that are now officially confirmed by IMDB. The names listed for the “X-Force” film thus far only include Stephen Lang as a credited cast member. While it may be currently labeled as a rumor, rumors on IMDB do carry their weight with increasing certainty.
This type of confirmation puts Stephen Lang past normal internet chatter. This now means that the studios are talking about him and he’s more likely a thing. Stephen Lang has confirmed in the past that he wanted the role. So, if he wants it and the studios are talking about it, then that means that a “suggestion” has become a “likely.”
Now given the status upgrade, let’s talk about the obvious, Stephen Lang as Cable. I honestly think that Stephen Lang fits into the role of Cable like we knew Patrick Stewart would as Professor X. He’s got the look and practically has the character down from his previous films. In “Avatar” he played an older, muscular seasoned soldier which could be a more than easy transition to the role of Cable. The only question is, “Will the film match the quality of the actor?”
