Forest Whitaker Joins ‘Black Panther’ Cast
Marvel announced yesterday that Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whitaker has become the latest actor to become part of the “Black Panther” cast. His role will be as the Wakandan warrior Zuri. The size of his role in the film is naturally still unclear but in the comics, he served as a loyal servant to both T’Challa and his father and despite his advanced age was known to be one of the Black Panther’s best warriors.
Whitaker has joined “Black Panther” alongside the previously cast Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia.
“Black Panther” has already become one of the most anticipated entries of Marvel’s Phase 3 and Whitaker’s casting will likely only add to that.
Whitaker has established himself as a well-respected actor over the years, most notably playing the brutal dictator Idi Amin in “The Last King of Scotland.” His next big screen appearance will be as Saw Gerrera in the “Star Wars” prequel “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
“Black Panther” will make it’s way to theaters February 16, 2018.
