For Norfolk, Va residents who are curious about the mysterious black storage truck, pop up tents and horde of hurried people that swept through the Ghent area and remained until the wee hours of the night yesterday, don’t worry… It’s just Hollywood invading.
That’s right, ‘Public Affairs‘ starring Adrian Grenier (‘Entourage’) and Mimi Rogers (‘Lost in Space’) is currently filming in various locations across Norfolk, Va. Although the Film is set in D.C., Norfolk native and producer Jeff Frizzell helped bring the Hollywood production to the less populated and less-expensive mini-metropolitan location. FilmFad caught up with Mr. Frizzell on the set of ‘Public Affairs’ for an exclusive conversation talking everything from location to talent.

Frizzell explains that Virginia’s recent openness to the film industry, by way of incentives, has made the humble Hampton Roads area much more enticing to smaller size productions. While this is not the first Hollywood production to film here, following behind films like ’Mission Impossible 3,’ ‘Cold Mountain,’ and more recently Tom Hanks’ ‘Captain Phillips,’ ‘Public Affairs’ joins the ranks of Charlie Sheen’s ‘Navy Seals’ and Jamie Lee Curtis’ ‘Virus’ for having a bulk of its primary footage shot in the Hampton Roads. Although Frizzell admits there will be some b-roll footage taken from Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. to give the film an official look, it’s a positive step to have the principal work all done within the 757 area code.
According to Frizzell, the movie is slated to continue filming across Norfolk for one more week. So if you see peculiar activity somewhere in Ghent on Wednesday and Thursday or in Downtown Norfolk on Sunday, then it’s likely just ‘Public Affairs.’ We could tell you where, but that would just ruin the surprise.
