Emily Blunt continues to be Marvel’s “one that got away.”
Emily Blunt has been pursued by Marvel for few roles it seems. While she may have had interest in the roles, it seems as though scheduling conflicts have kept her out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While she claims she has yet to be offered the role of Captain Marvel (there’s still hope), she has admitted she has regrettably turned down two other roles. The roles of Black Widow and Agent Peggy Carter were both offered to Blunt but unfortunately they could not make either work.
Blunt on why she declined the roles…
Yeah, but it was never the right time, really, and it just didn’t work out scheduling-wise with those two. It’s always a difficult thing to talk about, because it’s not fair to the actresses who ended up playing them, you know? It just wasn’t the right time.
While fans may disappointed that Emily Blunt could not take on these roles, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel. She has yet to be offered the role of Captain Marvel and between that role and the others that she declined, Captain Marvel would be the most fitting. If you have seen Emily Blunt in “Edge of Tomorrow” (or whatever they’re calling it now) then you should know that she can be a badass. Sure Black Widow is a badass but Captain Marvel is a powerhouse and more fitting of a chiseled beauty like Emily Blunt. As Captain Marvel, Blunt could be the first female superhero that doesn’t fit into that “damsel in distress” role. If she were to be offered the part then she could set a precedent for future female superheroes.
While this is clearly speculation at the moment, there’s no denying that Marvel has consistently pursued Emily Blunt. Hopefully they will offer her the role of Captain Marvel and the third time will be a charm.
What do you think? Will Marvel pursue Emily Blunt yet again?
