The Rock goes Doc for Writer/Director Shane Black’s upcoming Doc Savage film.
Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson revealed the news by way of Instagram accompanied by a rather lengthy blurb complementing the production crew and project concept. The wrestler turned actor is going to take on the title role of iconic the pulp adventurer which will be set in the 1930’s.
While many moviegoers may not be familiar with this bronze aged character, Doc Savage actually pre-dates Superman and is one of the world’s first superheroes. That’s right, the character is even named Clark and was groomed by his father to be the savior of humanity… sound familiar? Johnson continued his Instagram post by describing his take on the pulp icon.
The #1 reason I’m excited to become Doc Savage.. HE’S A F*CKING HILARIOUS WEIRDO!
Audiences can likely expect Doc Savage to roll into production once Black’s done with his highly-anticipated current project ‘The Predator.’ Now begins the wait for “The Rock” Savage!

"World's first superhero"? Not even close. Misses the mark by a couple millennia.
But the movie should be fun.
