Marc Forster will direct the “Winnie the Pooh” Movie
It’s been no secret Disney has been hard at work adapting their own classics. At this point keeping up with all of them is practically a full time job. Well among that list of properties in development has been ‘Winnie the Pooh’, which is now one big step closer to being made now that they’ve hired Marc Forster to direct.
The film is currently titled “Christopher Robin” and according to The Hollywood Reporter:
“The story centers on Robin, the adult version of the boy who in the A.A. Milne books shares his adventures with the animals of the Hundred Acre Wood. Robin has grown out of the joyful imagination he had as a young boy and is now a businessman who prioritizes work over his wife and daughter. With his home life on the brink, the last thing his life needs is the return of Pooh, who needs his help in finding his friends again. Robin has to find a way to help both sides or risk losing everything he holds dear.”
For those of you not especially familiar with Marc Forster, his work tends to be hit or miss. He’s proven to be reasonably competent with award season fare like “Monster’s Ball” and “Finding Neverland” but his big budget work is where things start to get questionable.
In 2008, he directed “Quantum of Solace,” which is generally regarded as the worst Bond film in Daniel Craig era. Then in 2013, he gave us “World War Z,” a film that has since become notorious for it’s production troubles. Both films ended up being financially successful but did no favors for Forster’s career.
Do you think Forster is a good choice?
