David Faustino aka Bud Bundy gave us an update on the “Married with Children” reboot!
David Faustino may be widely known as Bud Bundy from “Married with Children” but after hanging out with him for a bit and attending his panel, I’d say there’s a lot more to this guy than meets the eye. Faustino has done everything from acting to hip-hop to writing to radio hosting and even directing. More recently he had been doing voice work for the hit animated series “The Legend of Korra” which has had quite a strong following. The show is a spin-off from the popular “The Last Airbender” series and has created a newfound following for David Faustino outside of his successful career on “Married with Children.”
While I have seen Faustino do many things, his character Bud on “Married with Children” was iconic to me. On a show that was pushing comedic boundaries, his character was someone that many (myself included) could relate to with the struggles of coming to grips with hormonal changes and the pursuit of the girls. While some might think Bud was more of a satirical character, Faustino spoke of many fans that found a connection with Bud’s struggles and how it even helped them to cope with their own.
Given the popularity of his character and the show, we had to ask about the “Married with Children” reboot/reunion that has been in the works. Faustino says that they’re currently working out some legal issues but we can expect to see the gang reunite within one to three years. Take a listen to the interview below from Wizard World in Raleigh, North Carolina.
On his panel he furthered the discussion regarding the details of the “Married with Children” reboot. I wanted to know whether this reboot would be able to stand the test of time and push the boundaries of comedy like the original show. David Faustino gave a hopeful and optimistic response claiming that he was urging producers of the reboot to accommodate for a more “desensitized” audience in order to push those same boundaries that made the original show so popular. We can only hope to see this monumental comeback that we’ve all been waiting for!
Outside of “Married with Children” David also has a few other feature projects in the works. He just completed filming for the comedy “The Night Before” and also has a role in another film that he cannot discuss. While he cannot discuss this film, he does claim it will be widely known once it’s released.
With the “Married with Children” reunion in the works, his “Old Scratch” radio show on DashRadio.com, and an upcoming mystery project, I am curious as to where we will see David Faustino next.
