Daisy Ridley Being Eyed for Lara Croft in ‘Tomb Raider’ Reboot

“Star Wars The Force Awakens” star Daisy Ridley could be the next Lara Croft!

While Daisy Ridley is still a bit of a newcomer, she came on to the scene strong with her role of Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But with such a prominent role it was only expected that more prominent roles would come. While she may not be the only one being considered, Daisy Ridley is currently being eyed for the lead in a “Tomb Raider” reboot film. That’s right, she is being considered for Lara Croft!

the fresh-faced Ridley is one of a number of actresses being considered for the Tomb Raider reboot that Warner Bros and MGM are partnering on to produce and release, with GK Films’ Graham King producing.

The role may be a recognizable one but there are some cons to Daisy Ridley landing this role. If she gets the part, the odds are stacked against her for the film’s box office numbers. Video game adaptations have been known for being a very hit or miss franchise (falling more on the miss side), yet they are continually made. Even though “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” is the highest grossing video game adaptation, it only carried a small profit with its $115 million budget. Similar box office numbers could be a huge blow to Ridley given stellar success of “Star Wars.”

On the flip side of things, if Warner Bros. gives us a quality film then the character would be a great match for Ridley. Much like Harrison Ford’s “Indiana Jones” character, Lara Croft is an explorer/adventurer which could be a great opportunity for Daisy to expand her roles playing strong women.
