Blade Runner 2 Starts Filming in Summer 2016
“Blade Runner 2” is happening and starts filming next Summer!
That’s right, the Harrison Ford cult classic is getting a sequel and it sounds like it’s moving forward. According to VC Post, “Blade Runner 2” starts filming during the Summer of 2016 with both Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling set to star.
…Harrison is set to reprise his role as the replicant hunter, Rick Deckard. Aside from him, Ryan Gosling is also set to star in the movie as a currently undisclosed character. Production for Blade Runner 2 is said to begin in Summer 2016 which gives Ford ample time to recover from his injuries which he got from a plane crash last March.
Harrison Ford fans know him best for three roles. Now that he’s reprised his roles of Indiana Jones and Han Solo, it was only a matter of time before he played “Blade Runner’s” Rick Deckard once more. While it is being reported that Ford will reprise his role alongside newcomer Ryan Gosling, I’m not sure if Gosling’s role is set in stone. Back in March it was reported that Ryan Gosling was in negotiations to take the role but as far as we’ve researched, that status has not been updated.
If Ryan Gosling does “seal the deal,” then I expect “Blade Runner 2” will follow a similar structure that we’ve seen in many “passing the torch” type films. I’m sure there will be an attempt to capture the essence of the original film but I expect a “Men in Black” type of partnership between Ford and Gosling. My guess is that Harrison Ford will be mentoring Ryan Gosling to take over in films that may follow. And while that does sound a little bit presumptuous, it does seem to follow Hollywood’s formula for capitalizing on popular franchises.
