The 2016 Baltimore Comic Con has come and gone and here’s what you might have missed!
Crabcakes and comic con! That’s what Maryland does, and Baltimore Comic Con has become one of our favorite conventions to attend over the past few years. This year we met quite a few special guests and experienced the highlights of Baltimore and the convention.

This year the convention was comprised of multiple celebrities from many popular films and television shows. Appearances from Michael Rowe (Deadshot on “Arrow”), Candice Patton (Iris West on “The Flash”), and Kristian Nairn (Hodor on “Game of Thrones”) carried the television portion of the convention. Candice Patton gave her perspective on where Iris should be on “The Flash” and Kristian Nairn proved that Hodor says more than just his name.
Hayley Atwell made an appearance on Sunday to satiate the fan following for Peggy Carter as she’s known from both TV and film. The iconic Sean Astin also made an appearance discussing his more recent voice acting work as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Raphael. In addition to that recent role, Sean also discussed his lustrous career with us, divulged his most popular film among fans, and even poked fun at us…and we love a good roast haha. Check out our interview with him here.
In addition to the big and small screen celebrities, Baltimore Comic Con was saturated with writers and artists responsible for some of your favorite comics. Thanos and Gamora creator Jim Starlin made an appearance. For those that love Deadpool, co-creator Fabian Nicieza spent hours upon hours graciously talking to fans and giving autographs. Batman fans rejoiced as legendary artist Neal Adams had a table doing custom commissions drawings of his creations Ra’s Al Ghul and Green Lantern (John Stewart). And Ron Marz was also in attendance to discuss his Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner) as well. Those were just a few of the notable artists but artists and creators is where the Baltimore Comic Con mystique lies and why the die hard comic book fans flock to this convention year after year.
And finally no comic book convention would be complete without the thousands in attendance dressed as their favorite pop culture characters. While the guest list and vendors make up the initial intrigue of every convention, it’s the cosplayers that bring the heart and soul to these conventions year after year. This year, we had the chance to take quite a few photos of some of the amazing costumes, which you can check out in our gallery below.
Overall the 2016 Baltimore Comic Con was an enjoyable experience like every year. If I had one critique it would be the more scattered guest lineup. While they had an amazing guest list this year, you really had to be on the move to catch the guests on the right day and right time. But with the convention’s continual growth, you definitely have to remain organized and plan well to take in all of the sights.
