Edgar Wright’s anticipated action-comedy launches a very fun trailer.
“Baby Driver” rocked the Paramount Theatre during its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival on Saturday. The fanfare was greeted with loud laughter and raucous, spontaneous applause during its running time. Sony released the trailer to a movie afterwards that has been described as a “British-American comedy action crime musical film written and directed by Edgar Wright.” The trailer accurately reflects the movie without spoiling big laughs nor amusing action sequences. Consider this a “full-length teaser.”
With that being said, “Baby Driver” was a blast to watch! This was the most fun I’ve had watching a movie in quite a while! I was smiling during its running time as it blends various genres. Fans of the director’s previous work (“Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz”) will be amused by the comedic energy. The cast had the same energy during the Q&A, which was narrated by Austin filmmaker Robert Rodriguez and took eager questions from the audience. I think actor Ansel Elgort will break out after this movie debuts on June 28th. Another reason summer can’t get here fast enough!
