‘Assassin’s Creed’ Trailer Premieres on Jimmy Kimmel
Michael Fassbender stars in the first full trailer for “Assassin’s Creed.”
The world premiere for “Assassin’s Creed” debuted on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” Michael Fassbender stars in the film as the trailer gives our first bit of what to expect from this video game adaptation. Take a look at the trailer below.
Video game adaptations tend to do poorly at the box but with a great actor like Michael Fassbender attached, the studios could be making a push to break this trend. While there are elements shared between both the video game and the trailer, this trailer gives hope for the film.
The story has a lot of potential with the elements of pseudo time travel and the dynamics of the main character. But what ties these story elements together is the fluidity and pace of this trailer. On top of that we have Michael Fassbender bringing intensity to the trailer with key moments throughout highlighting his character’s struggle.
For those who are not familiar with the “Assassin’s Creed” video game series, it revolves around various characters who through technology are mentally connected to past lives of their ancestors. Through this technology called Animus they are able to relive their ancestors adventures in a sort of virtual reality environment. While the premise may seem a bit odd, in the games it works well as a bridge between the past and the present. If executed correctly, this could equally serve as a strong plot for this adapted film.
“Assassin’s Creed” stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, and Jeremy Irons. The film is set for U.S. release on December 21, 2016.
