Alex Garland ‘Ex Machina’ Follow Up ‘Annihilation’ Gets Release Date
Alex Garland’s next film “Annihilation” gets a 2018 release date!
Scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 23, 2018, “Annihilation” will be the next project following “Ex Machina” from Alex Garland. This sci-fi thriller will star Natalie Portman as a biologist leading a team of scientist to a place known as “Area X.” In this place nature has reclaimed the land and they face things such as deadly creatures, contamination, and disappearances. It is based upon a book of the same name from Jeff VanderMeer. This author shared a few words regarding his perspective of Alex Garland’s vision.
“It’s actually more surreal than the novel. There are a couple places where I was like, ‘I might need an anchor here.’ The ending is so mind-blowing and in some ways different from the book that it seems to be the kind of ending that, like 2001 or something like that, people will be talking about around the watercooler for years… Visually, it’s amazing. I must say that and that’s all I probably should say.”
In addition to Natalie Portman, the film also features Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tessa Thompson, Gina Rodriguez, and Oscar Isaac. With an A-List cast and an interesting premise, I’m sure many will be anticipating “Annihilation” when it releases next year.
Will you be marking your calendars for February 23, 2018?
