Carl Sagan Movie Coming From Warner Bros.
Warner Bros. has a movie in the works about the astrophysicist Carl Sagan.
Famous astronomer and astrophysicist Carl Sagan will be the subject of an upcoming film from Warner Bros. So far it is reported that the film will be a drama which currently has no title and a plot that is currently a mystery.
What we do know is that Lynda Obst (a producer on “Interstellar”) and Ann Druyan (creator of Carl Sagan series “Cosmos”) are working together in producing the film. We also know that Zach Dean (“Deadfall”) will be writing the script.
The producer duo working on this project should be quite the team for covering the great Carl Sagan. In addition to being a producer on Interstellar, Lynda Obst was also a producer on 1997’s “Contact” starring Matthew McConaughey and Jodie Foster. The film was also adapted from a Carl Sagan novel of the same name.
While Obst’s familiarity with Carl Sagan captures his work from the Hollywood side, Ann Druyan is the producer that easily captures the more informative side of his work. Druyan was a co-creator of the “Cosmos” series and worked closely with Sagan to develop this scientifically entertaining TV series. She was also a writer on “Contact” which should make the work between herself and Lynda Obst a fluid transition.
Carl Sagan is responsible for expanding public knowledge about our universe with his TV series and frequent appearances on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.” The revived “Cosmos” series that is now hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson stems from Sagan as well with Tyson being a former protégé of his.
While we may not know the plot of the film, I think we can expect the film to meld together a mix of dramatic elements about Sagan’s life and some vivid imagery of our universe.
