Will Smith To Produce ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reboot’
The modernized “Fresh Prince of Bel Air” makes yet another entry into the growing reboot fad hitting the small screen in a big way. The decade of choice? The ‘90s!

According to a TVLine report, Will Smith and his production partners at Overbrook Entertainment are developing a modernized reboot of the iconic ‘90s comedy sitcom. “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” joins the growing legion of ‘90s reboot projects including “Fuller House,” “The X-Files” and “Twin Peaks.” The report continues that the show will maintain its original feel, but with a modern twist. The evolving project will allegedly be shopped out within the coming weeks.
TVLine reports that Smith, now 46, would be relinquishing his Fresh Prince crown and taking on the role of executive producer, joining his Overbrook Entertainment partners Caleeb Pinkett, James Lassiter and wife Jada Pinkett-Smith.

From 1990 to 1996, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” was one of NBC’s crown jewels. The six season spanning show also gave Smith, then 22, the start to what would be a lucrative and, for better or for worse, memorable Hollywood career. With the passing of James Avery (Uncle Phil) and Smith stepping off camera, this project, if it happens, will definitely usher in a NEW “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
