Netflix to Release New Marvel Series Every Six Months
Netflix will be releasing a new Marvel series every six months!
According to Variety, our favorite internet streaming company, Netflix, made the announcement Tuesday at a Television Critics Association event that they will be expanding the Marvel On-Screen Universe by rolling out a new Superhero series every six months. With the premiere and success of Charlie Cox’s “Daredevil” earlier this year it looks like Netflix is primed and ready to keep riding the Marvel money wagon with “Jessica Jones,” “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage.”
If this announcement alone was not enough to have you running to your TV, Netflix also shared that they plan to release a “Defenders” series after each of these characters stars in their own respectable shows. For those not familiar with the lesser known Marvel characters, the Defenders are a more street-oriented band of heroes that operate more in the ethical grey-area and focus their powers more to clean up and sustain their local turf rather than to ward off large scale apocalyptic level events like their cinematic cousins, the Avengers.
I have stated many times prior my worry about the impending comic book bubble bursting only to water down the quality of the characters we all love. This announcement would be even more fuel to my fire if it were not for the previous excellence in craftsmanship of both “Daredevil” as well as other Netflix Originals like “Orange is the New Black” and “House of Cards.” This announcement alone is just what Netflix needed to justify the subscription hike we have all been dreading. It is a great time for the kid in me to see Netflix overflowing with my childhood favorites, and it’s an even better time for the adult in me seeing the stock I took a chance on getting even more of a bullish boost.
What are our thoughts? Is that a trick question?
YES!
ALL THE YES!!!
Bring it! The worse part is going to be waiting for six months after I binge watch these suckers!
