Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur trailer asks, ‘What if Dinosaurs lived?’
Disney/Pixar debuted their first teaser for the Dinosaur film “The Good Dinosaur” today!
Earlier this year Glenn gave us perspective on his Excitement Gauge for the 2015 Disney movie slate. Unsurprisingly, “The Good Dinosaur” was at the bottom of his list and this trailer may show us why. Check out the trailer below for Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur” below!
I have to say that this trailer does nothing for me. I usually think that Pixar has some very original ideas but we’ve been seeing notable dinosaur animated films since the 1980s. We’ve seen this story many times and I don’t see a place where “The Good Dinosaur” differentiates itself from any other prehistoric animated film. And speaking of animation, even that looks subpar in comparison to Pixar’s usual work. It might entertain the very young children but I don’t foresee this being a big family hit. With a November 25th release date, I’m sure that Disney is hoping to capitalize on the family market during the holiday time and if they do, it will be due to an absence of other family films.
Personally, I think that this just seems a bit lazy. If you’re going introduce a “What If” concept of dinosaurs not going extinct then change the environment a little bit. Don’t keep them in that same prehistoric period where they roamed the Earth, that just defeats the purpose of the “What If” concept. I may be speculating too early but based off of this trailer, I’m not seeing “The Good Dinosaur” as a Pixar hit. I’m making a preemptive judgement call and saying, “I’m going to pass on this film.”
