Chris Farley Documentary coming this Summer!
A Chris Farley documentary will release this Summer!
Bio-documentaries are becoming very popular as of late. With the Kurt Cobain documentary “Montage of Heck” recently released, it’s no surprise that the late SNL icon Chris Farley would be the subject of a documentary. Simply titled “I Am Chris Farley,” the documentary is set to release late in this Summer from Virgil Films according to Variety.
The film will be directed by Brent Hodge and Derik Murray. Hodge is probably best known for directing the documentary “A Brony Tale” and Murray has a slew of documentaries to his name. Murray’s documentaries “I Am Bruce Lee” and “I Am Evel Knievel” may shed some light on the title “I Am Chris Farley” and possibly the flow of the film.
As far as “I Am Chris Farley’s” coverage of Chris Farley goes, the documentary seems to be very diverse. Starting from Farley’s early college life at Marquette University to his unfortunate death at 33, “I Am Chris Farley” will chronicle nearly all of Farley’s journey as a comedian and actor.
The film tracks Farley from his early days in Madison, Wis. and at Marquette University, through his work at Second City, “Saturday Night Live” and in films such as “Tommy Boy” and “Black Sheep.” He died at the age of 33 of a drug overdose in 1997.
The most informative program to date I have seen about Chris Farley’s life was sadly an “E! True Hollywood Story.” It’s nice to see that there is an official documentary coming so soon about this iconic comedy legend. Given my love of “Saturday Night Live” and classic Chris Farley, I cannot wait for this film. With the inclusion of interviews from those close to Farley and the entire chronicle of his life, I think many fans will flock to this documentary.
