Spider-Man to be in Captain America 3 or Doctor Strange
Sony and Marvel FINALLY have agreed to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
It seems like the speculation was true. Despite Sony denying the rumors, it turns out that the rumors hold water. Today it was announced on Marvel.com that Sony and Marvel did indeed work out a deal and we can expect to see a collaboration for an upcoming Spidey film. The other news mentioned was the exploration of incorporating Marvel characters into future Spider-Man films. Perhaps the Civil War rumors about Spider-Man are also true.
Under the deal, the new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films.
Marvel and Sony Pictures are also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films.
Now here’s another interesting tidbit of information. Sony is releasing their next Spider-Man film on the same date as a scheduled Marvel film. Marvel released the dates of their upcoming films late last year showing that “Thor: Ragnarok” releases on the same day as this upcoming Spider-Man film. Given the statement above and the Marvel timeline, I’m going to make a bold statement and say I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War” or “Doctor Strange.”
From Marvel’s statements we know that Spider-Man will “first” appear in a Marvel film and “thereafter” get his standalone film which will release on the same day as “Thor: Ragnarok.” This leaves only three films that Spider-Man can appear in. The Guardians of the Galaxy sequel makes no sense for Spider-Man so we can exclude that film. “Captain America: Civil War” seems like a likely candidate for a Spidey appearance but my guess is that Marvel will want an after credits intro to Spidey and there will be too much going on in this film. Doctor Strange is a more likely possibility with his headquarters being right up the street from Spider-Man. “Doctor Strange” will also follow the events of “Captain America: Civil War” which is expected to open the door for new characters.
Based on the evidence and rumors, my money is on Spider-Man appearing in “Doctor Strange” in an after credits scene. I’m guessing that we will see the two meet to re-establish the Avengers or form a new team from the chaos that ensues in “Captain America: Civil War.”
This may be speculation but I am almost certain that this is fact. All of the evidence is there as clear as day. I would bet on Spider-Man appearing in “Doctor Strange” on November 4, 2016 and then we may see him show up for “Avengers: Infinity War.”
I imagine that we’ll see a spiderman cameo in the Avengers: Age Of Ultron end credits scene.
