Fifty Shades film will have graphic nudity
“Fifty Shades of Grey” got its MPAA rating and cites “graphic nudity.”
The “Fifty Shades of Grey” upcoming film has already stirred up controversy based on its risqué source material. With a little over a month away from its release, we finally received the answer we’ve waiting for…What will it be rated?
While many fans were hoping for an “NC-17” rating, it looks like they’ll have to settle for an R-rated film. While “R” means that readers won’t get the “Fifty Shades of Grey” intimate details they want, it doesn’t mean the film won’t be a solid adaptation. Citing “graphic nudity” for the MPAA’s rating, “Fifty Shades of Grey” should reach that level of soft core pornography that fans are seeking.
[Fifty Shades of Grey will be rated “R” for] strong sexual content including dialogue, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity, and for language.
This seems to be a compromise for many fans. Studios tend to aim for that “PG-13” rating sweet spot. At “PG-13,” films can have enough edge to attract and admit a much larger audience. Knowing the content of this film, it was obvious that toning down the sexual nature too much would destroy its allure. While many fans sought the “NC-17” rating, the “R” rating should be more profitable.
By today’s standards, “R” can go a long way. The most notoriously famous “NC-17” film “Showgirls” would probably pass with an “R” if it were released today. So while fans may want “NC-17” they may be more satisfied than they know with an “R” rating.
What do you think? Will an “R” rating leave “Fifty Shades” fans unsatisfied?
