‘Castlevania’ Series Coming To Netflix In 2017
The Belmonts are coming to Netflix in 2017!
While the details are scarce at the moment, we now know that a “Castlevania” series is in the works and coming to Netflix. The first season is set to kick off this year with Adi Shankar producing. Shankar has remained tight lipped about the project, providing details on a progressive, as-needed basis.
“We have a project right now that we’re doing that needs to go unnamed, based on one of the most world-famous video games of the last 30 years, that we’ve had in our shop for 12 years without being able to get it started. But there were great characters and a great story, and eventually we got it going.”
In addition it is also being reported that famed comic book writer Warren Ellis is attached to the project. For now, his association is not confirmed but would be a welcomed addition to the project given his history in comics and experience with the “Castlevania” story.
Adi Shankar has been behind a variety of other fan-favorite projects. “Dredd” received an ample amount of acclaim from both fans and critics. His other projects within his “Bootleg Universe” have also gained notoriety. “POWER/RANGERS UNAUTHORIZED” gave fans a glimpse of a more adult version of “Power Rangers” and projects like “Dirty Laundry” made fans love Thomas Jane as the Punisher despite a poorly received film. Given the edgy nature of his projects, I cannot wait to see where Adi and his team take a classic like “Castlevania.”
