Dave Bautista Officially Joins ‘Blade Runner 2’
“Guardians of the Galaxy” star Dave Bautista has been added to the cast of “Blade Runner 2.”
Blade Runner 2 starts filming this summer and former WWE star turned actor Dave Bautista will be on set. He will join the likes of Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, and Harrison Ford (who will supposedly be reprising his original role from the first film).
This sequel is set to be decades after the original film which was set in a dystopian Los Angeles in 2019. This makes sense given the time that has passed from the original film and how the timeframe would be irrelevant given that it will be January 12, 2018 when the film releases. The story will be based on a story written by Hampton Fancher and Ridley Scott. Fancher along with Michael Green (“Green Lantern”) have penned the screenplay for this sequel.
Dave Bautista is an interesting choice for “Blade Runner 2” but not surprising. He has proven himself as a prominent actor in big budget films. With “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “SPECTRE” to his name, he will surely be able to tackle whatever role comes his way in this film. The question that fans will have now is what role Bautista will serve. Will it be a villainous role or will he be supplemental to the hero’s journey? He may not even be human in the film and would make a very menacing replicant if that’s the role he is chosen for.
But while principal photography will being in July 2016, not much else is known about “Blade Runner 2.” Even the title is a working title at this point. But for the fans of the original, the idea of the project alone will have people intrigued. What that idea is, will have to be a waiting game unfortunately.
What do you think of Dave Bautista joining the cast of “Blade Runner 2?”
