‘X-Men’ Star Lucas Till To Lead CBS ‘MacGyver’ Reboot
Lucas Till, aka ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’s’ Havok, is putting away his plasma blasting paws and picking up some chewing gum and paperclips as he takes on the lead role in the CBS MacGyver reboot.
Lucas Till, fresh off the highly-anticipated 3rd installment to Bryan Singer’s rebooted X-Men trilogy, is transitioning from mutant to the small-screen master of resourcefulness as the title role in CBS’s ‘MacGyver’ reboot. It has been confirmed by Variety that Till will be reprising the role originally made famous by Richard Dean Anderson in CBS’s 1980s ‘MacGyver’ television series.
‘MacGyver’ fans should not get their hopes up yet however. Till has been brought on to film a pilot episode for the series reboot, which means, despite this promising trending news response, there is a lot more red-tape and network approval for the series to clear before getting the green-light for a full season.

According to the ‘MacGyver’ show runners, the new series will pan out much like the original following Till as a young MacGyver in his mid to late 20s as he is recruited by a covert spy agency. The young MacGyver will be forced to use his atypical, but genius, problem solving skills to avert major catastrophes.
For the pilot episode, Till will be joined by Joshua Boone, who will play MacGyver’s best friend Gunner. The tag-team is also joined by veteran actor George Eads (‘CSI’), who is set to play Lincoln, a outspoken government employee with odd-ball theories that often turn out to be truthful.
CBS has also tapped practically unknown writer Paul Downs Colaizzo to be joined by executive producers Michael Clear, Lee Zlotoff, James Wan and returning original 1980s series producer Henry Winkler. The pilot episode will be directed by David Von Ancken (‘Califonication’ ‘Hell On Wheels’), who will also join the ranks of executive producers for the series.
