Warner Bros Names Seth Grahame-Smith as ‘The Flash’ Director
Warner Bros. is giving “The Flash” to Seth Grahame-Smith to make his directorial debut.
“The Flash” is currently slated for a 2018 release and has “Perks of Being a Wallflower” star Ezra Miller in the lead role. While they have their star and release date, it was just announced that Warner Bros. is in negotiations to have Seth Grahame-Smith make his directorial debut with the film as well as serve as the writer.
For those that are unfamiliar with Seth Grahame-Smith, he is the author of the books “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” and “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.” “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” was adapted into a film in 2012 and “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” is also being adapted to film set for release in 2016. In addition to having his novels adapted to film, Tim Burton seems to be a fan as he has served as the screenwriter for “Dark Shadows” and is currently attached to be the screenwriter for Beetlejuice 2.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is less than a year away and should setup the Justice League story given the title. With the “dawn of the Justice League” we can expect excitement to build for solo films like “The Flash.” “Batman V Superman” is already promoting a darker tone and given Seth Grahame-Smith’s track record for darker films, we may also get a darker version of “The Flash.”
Currently the CW is setting a precedent for fan expectations with their hit TV series also titled The Flash. With this being the first DC property that may have two different versions of the character being presented simultaneously, it will be interesting to see how audiences take things. For now, we will have to wait until March 3, 2018 to see how things play out.
