Original ‘Star Wars’ May Be Coming to Netflix
The original “Star Wars” films may be coming to Netflix!
While at the moment things seem to be mere speculation, multiple outlets are entertaining the idea that the original Star Wars films may be coming to Netflix. This comes from a source basing their proof on the specific “Star Wars” titles showing up in the streaming library and while this could be a glitch, their proof seems to be valid.
You can also check out the specific placeholders yourself. While logged into your Netflix account, click on each of the links below and you will see that these placeholders do indeed exist.
Star Wars: Attack of the Clones
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
If this rumor is indeed true then many may be upset about their purchase of the “Star Wars” digital collection. I actually wrote a very extensive piece on why you should NOT buy the “Star Wars” digital copies back in April and if this rumor comes to fruition, Netflix could have just provided another reason. It would be a very interesting move if Netflix was able to acquire the rights and I’m not sure how fans would take this after spending $100 to have the right to stream the films themselves. It would be even more upsetting to fans if Netflix was able to get the original cuts of the films (probably not) which has yet to be determined. As for me (and those who did not purchase the digital copies), I would be more than excited for having the convenience of streaming “Star Wars” anywhere. But if Netflix has acquired the rights to the original films, I can’t help but wonder what the financial repercussions on subscribers will be. We all know “Star Wars” isn’t cheap!
What do you think? Is this validated proof that we may see “Star Wars” on Netflix?
