2017 Golden Globe Nominations Announced With ‘La La Land’ Leading The Pack
“La La Land” leads field with 7 nominations
Last night, “La La Land” cleaned up at the Critic’s Choice Awards with a whopping eight wins including Best Picture, so it should probably come as no big surprise that the Golden Globes proved to be equally kind by rewarding them with 7 nominations including Best Picture, Musical or Comedy. Trailing just behind the Damien Chazelle film are ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Manchester by the Sea’ with 6 and 5 respectively.
Some notable surprises include Best Pictures nods in the Musical or Comedy category for both “Deadpool” and “Sing Street” and a nod for Best Supporting Actor going to Aaron Taylor-Johnson for “Nocturnal Animals” over his co-star Michael Shannon.
However, Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film “Silence” has been completely shut out in all categories. It’s worth noting that the “True Grit” remake also ended up being shut out by the Globes a few years ago before scoring a whopping 10 nominations from the Academy Awards. ‘Finding Dory’ also found itself snubbed from the Best Animated Motion Picture category though to be fair, it has been a great year for animation.
